Jerome For The Day

Recently, Jeff and I along with another couple friends of ours took a day trip up to a town called Jerome, Arizona. Just southwest of Sedona. Jerome was a copper mining camp, once known as the wickedest town in the west. Jerome, at it's peak, produced 3 million pounds of copper per month! There is a lot of history in this town, so we thought it would be a great place to take a day trip!
We started at the bottom of the city and made our way to the top. Along the way we ran into this beautiful church. The day was so clear and the sky was so beautiful. It was a perfect day for me to gain a few skills on our Canon Rebel xsi that I haven't been able to get much use out of since Christmas.

As we made our way up to the Jerome Grand Hotel, I came across some beautiful sunflowers! My mother-in-law is obsessed, so I had to snap a few shots of those as well!

So, I'm not much a believer in ghosts and haunted places, but I took this picture as we were getting close to the hotel. The moment I finished taking this picture, I turned my camera off and put the lens cap back on. I got up to the hotel, walked up the stairs to the first floor and saw an old clock that I thought would make a great photo...I turned the camera on (did NOT touch the settings) and this next photo is what I got...
The aperture on my camera slowed down. I even checked the settings and they were the same inside as they were outside. I just turned the camera off and gave it to Jeff. I was not about to loose sleep that night because my camera was being silly!

After a long day of walking up the hill, then down the hill, then up the hill again just to come down one more time, we were all ready to make the 2 1/2 hour drive back to the Phoenix area! The sun was making it's way down and the sky presented the most beautiful picture I have ever seen. It had to be captured. I actually took this photo while we were driving down the highway, with my window rolled up! I pretty proud, because I still think it is so beautiful!

We had such a nice trip! I can't wait to explore more with my Husband! We are really enjoying married life! Couldn't ask for a better situation in life, than where we are now!

Merry Christmas to Jeff & Heather!

So Jeff and I decided to get each other a few big Christmas gifts this year! We bought a nice big (I don't know how many inches...ask Jeff) flat screen T.V. and an amazing camera!! Now introducing our Canon Rebel XSi...

Jeff and I had a little bit of time to take some photos and so far we are loving it! There is so much you can do with this camera...so much to learn! We plan on taking a class, so we can learn all the fun and crazy things to do! Then I'm going to take a class that focuses just on Adobe Illustrator, so I can touch up the photos we take! Should be lots of fun! Here are some of the photos we've taken!
